ARMADILLO SOUND AND DESIGN was established in 1986 by Doug Lohman to specialize in providing production (sound & lights) for acoustic music events. Doug has over 30 years experience as a musician. Having performed many different styles of music - hootenanny, acoustic rock, country rock, blues, bluegrass, folk, swing and Cajun - Doug brings to your event a love of music of all genres.

Armadillo Sound Reinforcement Workshops

Sound Reinforcement 101 is a class designed to enhance the understanding of sound reinforcement systems (PA systems, sound systems). Discussed in layperson’s terms, we describe the basic parts of the sound system (Microphones, mixing boards, power amplifiers, speaker cabinets) and how the fit and work together. Discussion also includes microphones (their types, styles, uses) and out board effects (graphic equalizers, crossovers, delays, reverbs). There is discussion about mixing or balancing and last but not least, discussion about the traits and qualities of a successful sound person.

Sound Reinforcement 102 is a class designed for musicians. It discusses proper use of microphones and monitor speakers. (How-To-Prevent-Monitor-Wars 101). It also discusses how to work with the new, unknown sound person.

Armadillo Workshops are taught by Doug Lohman who, as a musician and sound person for over 35 years, has experience from the practical perspective.
